We are delighted that 98% of UK colleges are now participating within eMandate. This is particularly encouraging as gaining value from this service relies heavily on participation - releasing value to your college, other colleges and the sector generally.
The 2007 eMandate User Survey highlighted that 80% of respondents felt that that the quality of their information had improved, giving an increased confidence in the reliability of the available data.
Timetable for 2007-2008 (Data for the financial year 2006/07). Eleven regional workshops were held between 2007 November and January 2008, where the opportunity was taken for the Service Team to outline some of the key points to note and the process for participation. As in previous years, data collection will take place during the first quarter of the year and colleges should have access to full reporting data and measures by June.
Getting started The first task for your college will be to familiarise itself with the data required by eMandate and to allocate responsibility for its collection. Please view the Data Fields and Definitions document on this site – this indicates the extent and type of data which you will be requested to provide during the Data Collection Phase. Data requirements there have been a number of changes to the data requirements from last year and we encourage all colleges to download from this site the list of data fields and definitions to help plan the data assembly process.
Specifically, a number of data items have been removed from this year’s submission, namely;

Furthermore, in order to simplify data collection and facilitate comparisons, Gross Internal Area of Land Based space has moved from DEP.025 to the following QLB codes QLB.005 GIA of non-teaching land based buildings QLB.005.005 GIA of farm buildings QLB.005.010 GIA of equestrian buildings QLB.005.015 GIA of horticultural buildings QLB.005.020 GIA of animal care structures
The data collection templates have been sent to all colleges by email. Although as time progresses we anticipate that colleges will have access to more of the necessary data, we do not expect all colleges to have access to all data! The LSC have highlighted the following as those data items which must be completed in order for a submission to count as valid. These are as follows.

As in previous years, the template will be a simple and easy to use Excel spreadsheet; guidance on completion and quick & easy data checking will be documented and a number validation checks have been incorporated. As always, emphasis will very much be on colleges to ensure their estates data is comprehensive.
